Sports Information

The purpose of the Sports Information Department at Benedictine College is to promote and support the 14-sport athletics programs at BC. The SID does this through maintaining statistics, production of media and recruiting guides and the upkeep of the official website of the athletics department.

The Ravens and Lady Ravens are members of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

MEDIA AFFILIATES
Ravens and Lady Ravens athletics primary media outlets are the Atchison Globe and KAIR FM 93.7, Atchison.

Regional affilates include KQ2-TV, St. Joseph, Mo., the Kansas City Star and the St. Joseph News-Press.

The number one source for the latest information on BC athletics is the department website, RavenAthletics.com.

The Circuit, BC's student newspaper, also has extensive stories, features and a Raven sports blog.

OFFICIAL ATHLETICS LOGOS
Benedictine College has two specific logos for their various athletics programs. For use of those logos, please contact the SID.

The logo known as the "raven head" is the official logo of the football program while the newly designed "stand-up Raven" is the official logo for all other athletics programs. There are several alternate logos in use by the department that are also available for use on request.

Sports information director Josh Pound joined the BC athletics staff in the summer of 2003. He, along with the various head coaches, serve as contacts for information on the 14-sport Ravens and Lady Ravens athletics teams.

Before joining the staff, Mr. Pound was the sports editor for the Atchison Daily Globe - now Atchison Globe - for three years. While at the Globe, Mr. Pound earned several awards for sports feature writing, sports writing, photography and layout and design.

A native of Lyons, Kan., Mr. Pound spent four years at Pittsburg State University and Emporia State University before leaving school for an opportunity to work as a full-time sports editor at the Globe. While in school, he served as a sports writer for the Pitt State student newspaper, the Emporia State student newspaper and the Emporia Gazette. He also worked closely with each school's sports information departments.

Mr. Pound has a BS in Journalism from Benedictine College.

Along with being the SID, Mr. Pound is in charge of the Benedictine Raven Sports Network (BRSN) which serves as the radio home for Raven men's and women's soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball and video home for Raven football, men's and women's basketball.

Josh, his wife Amy - who teaches early childhood special education for the Keystone Learning Center - have three children Brady, Cooper and Caitlyn. They reside in Nortonville, Kan. Amy and the children can often be found close by at many of the athletics events on the Benedictine campus as avid fans of the Ravens and Lady Ravens.
