Ben Bennett joins Baseball coaching staff assistant coach

Benedictine Baseball head coach Eric Peterson has announced the hire of Ben Bennett to his coaching staff.

Coach Bennett joins the Ravens after serving as an assistant coach at Shawnee State University and fills the opening created when Associate Head Coach Anthony Ortega stepped down over the summer.

"We are excited to announce that Coach Ben Bennett will be joining our coaching staff," Coach Peterson said. "Coach Bennett comes to Benedictine with a wealth of experience at the NAIA level and will be a great addition to our staff.

"He will work primarily with infielders and our offense, as well as coach third base."

Bennett comes to Benedictine from Shawnee State University where he spent the 2024 season as the hitting coach for the Bears. Bennett helped the program to its most wins since 2014, along with its first conference tournament, and wins, since 2019.

Prior to 2024, Bennett served assistant at NAIA member Iowa Wesleyan University as a hitting/infield coach. He also coordinated team travel, fundraising, and camps each fall as part of his off-the-field work. In the 2022 and 2023 seasons respectively, Bennett helped the program to its most victories since 2012.

Prior to his stint at Iowa Wesleyan, Bennett served as a graduate assistant at William Penn University after graduating from Wittenberg University in 2015 where he played catcher for the Tigers over his four-year career.
