Indoor Facility addition announced for the Asher Sports Complex

Thanks to the generosity of donors, Benedictine College Athletic Director Charlie Gartenmayer is pleased to announce an indoor facility to the Asher Sports Complex.

The facility will contain restrooms, and a satellite training room in addition to the primary area of the building housing four hitting tunnels for use by the Raven Baseball and Raven Softball programs. The cages will have the ability to move in different configurations to suit the needs of both programs. Additionally, the cages can be pushed out of the way to provide an open space for the student-athletes to conduct fielding and throwing drills when they aren't able to do so on their respective fields.

"We continue to remain committed to supporting the growth of our student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field," Gartenmayer said. "As we continued to look at ways we could accomplish our mission to support building championship-level programs, adding an indoor facility was at the top of the list. We are excited to work with team Jeff Ellison and his team on this new project for our baseball and softball programs."

The facility will be located north of Ravens Field – home to Benedictine Softball. The front side with the main entrance to restrooms and the satellite training room will face back toward Ravens Field with additional access into the home bullpen area and left field.

"The addition of the indoor facility at Asher Sports Complex is going to be a game changer for our softball players student-athlete experience at Benedictine," said Benedictine Softball head coach Paul Hunt. "The upgrade will allow our players to have greater access to our indoor space and enhance the quality of our practices. The addition being directly off of our field will allow us to have more productive practices. I am very grateful to those who have made this upgrade possible. President (Stephen D.) Minnis and Charlie Gartenmayer continue to make sure our facilities are of the highest standard and give our athletes the best opportunity to be successful on and off the field."

Benedictine Baseball head coach Eric Peterson echoed the thoughts of Coach Hunt on what the facility will do for his program.

"The investment in our student-athletes development continues with this new facility," Coach Peterson said. "This facility will provide a place that our guys can use at any time of the day, any day of the week. This an exciting time for both baseball and softball programs."

The final details regarding the start time for the construction of the facility continue to be worked out.
