(RV) Football returns home Saturday against Clarke University Pride

The (RV) Raven Football team returns home Saturday for their final home game of September as they welcome Clarke University to O'Malley Field at Larry Wilcox Stadium.

Series History: This year's meeting between the Ravens and the Pride marks their third overall meeting. Benedictine leads the series 2-0 with a win over Clarke last season on the road, 38-0. In their first-ever meeting during the 2019 season, Benedictine earned a 73-14 win on O'Malley Field during week four. 

About Benedictine: Through three games, linebacker Jalen James has 22 tackles (12 solo, 10 assisted) with 1.5 tackles for a loss. He entered the season with a total of 322 tackles and now ranks third all-time on the Ravens tackles list. He passed former Defensive Player of the Year Guido Trinidad (340 tackles, '99-'02) in the Ravens loss to Peru State. He is now eyeing the 373 tackles of Curtis Coppinger ('97-'00). The Ravens all-time record for tackles is 457 and is held by Paul Howe ('84-'87). ... Heading into week four, the Ravens are averaging 25.3 points per game. ... The offense has converted on third down 45 percent of the time (17 of 38), ranking fourth overall so far in the Heart. ... Tre Adger had a total of 111 kick-off return yards in five games during the 2020 season. Through three games in 2021, Adger is averaging 34 yards per kickoff return with a total of 170 yards on five returns. His 91-yard touchdown return was a career-high last week against Peru State. 

About Clarke (courtesy of Clarke Sports Information): Offensively, Clarke averages 258 yards of total offense per game with 141.3 yards per game coming through the air and an additional 116.7 coming on the ground. Defensively, the Pride allow 411 yards of total offense per game, 212 yards per game of which come on the ground and 199 through the air. ... Despite the high averages, the Pride defense has recorded six interceptions (tied for the nation's lead) and two fumble recoveries, tying the program for the second-most forced turnovers in the NAIA with Iowa Wesleyan and Florida Memorial at eight apiece. ... Individually, Spaight's three interceptions this season are tied for the national lead with Koby Brandenburg (Hastings), Damon Byrnes-Mitchell (Cumberlands), Robert Carter (Lindsey Wilson) and MaCoy Yeakel (Waldorf).
