(11) Football secures Senior Day with over Central Methodist

Benedictine Football sent out their Senior class with a 39-point win over Central Methodist University on Saturday.

The No. 11-ranked Ravens scored 7 touchdowns against the Eagles en route to a 49-10 win.

Jackson Dooley capped off a 21-point second quarter for Benedictine, scoring on a 7-yard rush. During the drive, Dooley completed 5 passes for 59 yards to break the Ravens' single-season passing yards record. With his 343 yards passing today, Dooley now has 3,286 yards, breaking the previous record of 3,110 yards set by Garrett Kettle in 2022.

Dalton Witherspoon opened the scoring for the Ravens on the day with a 4-yard rushing touchdown. After holding CMU to a 24-yard field goal, the Ravens answered with a 72-yard pass from Dooley to Joseph Lagafuaina to send the game into the second quarter with the Ravens leading 14-3.

The Ravens special teams scored the first points of the second quarter after Joseph Abrams blocked a punt in the end zone that was recovered by Isaiah Hasten. JaShawn Todd scored next on a 5-yard rush before Dooley's rushing touchdown sent Benedictine into halftime with a 35-3 lead.

Both offenses stalled in the third quarter with the Ravens capping off their offensive day with a 19-yard pass from Dooley to Tyler Watson to open the fourth quarter. After giving up a touchdown to CMU midway through the fourth quarter, Jonah Roberts added a 66-yard rushing touchdown to cap off the Ravens scoring efforts on the day.

Roberts led the Ravens rushing attack with 75 yards on 3 carries as the Ravens finished with 217 yards rushing. Lagafuaina led a balanced receiving corps with 81 yards on 2 catches. Tanner Zimmerman finished with 5 catches for 48 yards while Jacob Gathright added 47 yards on 3 receptions. Todd also added 34 yards on 3 receptions.

Defensively, Isaac Anderson led the charge with 7 tackles, including 3 sacks for a loss of 14 yards. The Ravens finished with 6 sacks for a loss of 38 yards with a total of 11 tackles for a loss. Zachary LaCombe, Cole Johnson, Tim Glaser and Kevin Harris all finished with 5 tackles each with LaCombe, Johnson, and Glaser recording tackles for a loss.

Benedictine returns to the road for a first-ever meeting in Fulton, Mo., with William Woods University on Nov. 16 to finish off the regular season. With MNU's loss to Baker in Olathe on Saturday, the Ravens, Pioneers and Wildcats are now tied for the Heart South lead with one week remaining.
