Men's Lacrosse falls to Siena Heights at home

Men's Lacrosse dropped a close home game to the Siena Heights Saints on Legacy Field Wednesday evening.

Turnovers doomed the (RV) Ravens as they committed 33 in the game, and 19 as they fell behind in the first half, on their way to an 11-8 loss to the (RV) Saints.

The game actually got off to a great start for the Ravens as they won the opening faceoff and Joey Calabria scored just 45 seconds into the contest. However, the Saints won the next faceoff and scored 4 seconds later. A goal by Mason Eberle knotted the score at 2-2 with 8:33 to play in the first quarter, but then the Saints went on a 6-1 run the remainder of the first half to take an 8-3 lead into the break.

The Ravens were a different team in the second half, limiting Siena Heights to just 3 goals in the final 30 minutes.

Goals by Calabria, Eberle, Joseph Bianchi and Mac Postel helped the Ravens cut the deficit to 9-7 heading into the fourth quarter, but that's as close as the Ravens would get in the second half. Siena Heights outscored the Ravens 2-1 in the final quarter to prevent the Ravens comeback.

Calabria finished with a team-high 3 goals and Eberle added 2. Jack Northrup had 8 ground balls and 4 caused turnovers, leading the Ravens in both categories. Aidan Nicholson added 6 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers. The Saints dominated on faceoffs, taking 19 to the Ravens 4.

Next up for the Ravens (2-2) will be No. 10 Aquinas, Mich., back on Legacy Field at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 9.
