Wrestling season opens up at Falcon Invite hosted by Friends University

WICHITA – Benedictine Wrestling opened up its season on Saturday, participating in the Falcon Invite hosted by Friends University. The Ravens competed in two divisions at the event, finishing 11th in the Amateur Division and 19th in the Elite Division.

Jacob Campbell scored 5 points at 125 pounds in the Amateur Division. He earned a win by tech fall, 21-5 before falling in the third round of the championship bracket. He earned wins of 10-3, 12-10 and 11-6 in the consolation bracket before losing his second match.

Patrick Ransom scored 7.5 points at 149 pounds. After losing by fall to open his run in the Amateur Division, he earned a 15-0 tech fall, 19-7 major decision, 21-5 tech fall and an 18-0 tech fall before losing his second match in the fifth round of the consolation bracket.

Dominik Gendreau scored 6 points at 157 pounds in the Amateur Division. He bounced back from an opening loss with a par of wins by fall before picking up wins of 9-6 and 10-8 before dropping his second match in the fifth round of the consolation bracket.

Sean Stara scored 7 points at 174 pounds in the Amateur Division. He earned a 12-5 win by decision in the second round of the championship bracket, before losing by fall. He bounced back with a pair of wins by fall before he lost by a tech fall in the sixth round of the consolation bracket. 

Grady Romshek (125 pounds) scored 2.5 points, Calvin Miller (133 pounds), Kohen Coffman (149 pounds), Kaleb Jestes (147 pounds) scored 3 points, Vincent Carpena (165 pounds) scored 2.5 points to round out the completion in the Amateur Division.

Charles Easterling (133 pounds), Daryl Easterling (157 pounds), Malachi Johnson (157 pounds) and Gino Camarca (165 pounds) competed in the Elite Division for the Ravens.

The Ravens return to the mat on Nov. 11, traveling to Des Moines, Iowa, for the Grand View Open.
