(18) Softball opens season with four-game split at ASB Dome

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – After the weather forced a change in the weekend schedule, (18) Softball traveled North for a series of games against Concordia (Neb.) and Bellevue inside the American State Bank Dome.

Sunday night, the Ravens fell to Concordia 4-3 in 9 innings before beating Bellevue 3-2 in 8 innings. Bellevue earned a 1-0 win Monday afternoon before Benedictine beat Concordia 7-3.

Concordia 4, Benedictine 3
Concordia scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth to earn the win over Benedictine in the series opener.

Bailey Selvage suffered the loss inside the circle. She threw a complete game, pitching 8.1 innings in the loss. She allowed 3 earned runs off 9 hits with 12 strikeouts and she made her 2025 debut.

At the plate, the Ravens drew 9 walks but were limited to just 4 hits. Angelina Postel, Megan Forsman, and Ryan Cooper all scored a run.

Benedictine 3, Bellevue 2
It was Benedictine rallying in the second game of the series on Sunday night, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn their first win of the season.

Lacey Foster picked up the win inside the circle, throwing all 8 innings. She recorded 4 strikeouts while giving up 1 earned run off 5 hits.

Rhiannon Martin and Megan Forsman recorded doubles while Alena Velilla, Forsman, and Ryan Cooper recorded an RBI.

Bellevue 1, Benedictine 0
The Bruins earned a split with the Ravens scoring the game's lone run.

Bailey Selvage suffered the loss, throwing a complete game. She finished with 9 strikeouts while giving up a run off 3 hits.

Amanda Waymire, Alma Garcia, and Sam Bertoncino recorded the Ravens 3 hits at the plate.

Benedictine 7, Concordia 3
The Ravens wrapped up the series with a 4-run win over the Bulldogs.

Lacey Foster picked up the win in relief of Lily SinghDhillon. SinghDhillon threw the first 3 innings, allowing 2 runs off 4 hits with 5 strikeouts. Foster threw 3.1 innings, holding the Bulldogs to just 1 run off 3 hits before Bailey Selvage recorded the final two outs of the game to earn the save.

At the plate, the Ravens finished with 8 hits, three of which were doubles. Megan Forsman, Amanda Waymire, and Chloe Strickland recorded the doubles while Forsman finished with 4 RBI. Waymire and Strickland added an RBI each to out the Ravens offensive efforts.

Benedictine remains on the road for a trip to Shawnee, Okla., where they are playing four games in the NAIASB Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
