Softball earned a conference sweep on Sunday afternoon.

The (RV) Ravens defeated the Clarke University Pride at home, winning Game 1, 9-1, then finishing the sweep with a 9-3 win in Game 2.

Game 1

Amanda Waymire got the Ravens on the board with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the second inning. The Pride leveled the score in the next half inning as a double scored a runner from first to make it 1-1.

The Ravens broke things open when Rhiannon Martin doubled to lead off, then Waymire dropped a single into shallow left to plate Martin for her second RBI of the game and put the Ravens back on top. Alma Garcia singled and Riley Kennedy bunted for a hit to load the bases. Megan Forsman brought home Waymire with a sacrifice fly, then Ryan Cooper doubled home Garcia and Kennedy to put the Ravens up 5-1.

The Ravens closed out a run-rule win in the bottom of the fifth inning. Waymire continued her fantastic day with her second home run, this time a 2-run shot after Martin walked. Kaelyn Fisher walked and Garcia followed up with a double. After a hit batter, Forsman singled home two runs to give the Ravens the 9-1 win.

Lily SinghDhillon pitched well to improve to 8-2 on the season. She struck out 6 batters, scattered 5 hits and gave up just 1 run.

Game 2

The Pride grabbed an early lead thanks to a 2-run homer in the top of the first inning. However, the Ravens answered in a big way in the bottom of the second, scoring 8 runs.

Garcia and Kennedy started the rally with singles, then Cooper bunted to load the bases. Alena Velilla singled home two runners, then a third run scored on a ground out by Chloe Strickland.

A double by Martin scored Velilla and she was followed by a Waymire walk. Fisher singled in Martin, then Garcia knocked her second hit of the inning to drive in Waymire. Two more runs scored on an error by the center fielder as the Ravens moved in front 8-2.

Martin pushed the Ravens lead to 9-2 in the third when she doubled home Cooper.

The Pride scored once in the sixth inning but the Ravens closed out the sweep.

Bailey Selvage got the start in the circle for the Ravens, giving up 2 runs through 3.2 innings and striking out 5 batters. Lacey Foster (4-3) earned the win in relief, striking out 4 batters and allowing 1 run in 3.1 innings.

The Ravens (18-12, 3-1 Heart) will start an 8-game road swing with a doubleheader at William Penn University on Saturday, March 29.
