Women's Basketball bounces back with big win

Women's Basketball got back to its winning ways at home Wednesday night.

The (RV) Ravens bounced from their first loss of the season on Saturday, defeating the Missouri Valley College Vikings, 77-54.

The Ravens offense was clicking in the first half as ball movement opened up good scoring opportunities. The Ravens assisted on 14 of their 18 made shots in the opening half to take an 18-point lead into the break.

Josie Weishaar connected on four 3-pointers and scored 14 points in the opening 20 minutes and Jennifer Jacobs added 10. One particular sequence late in the second helped grow the Ravens lead as Kennedy Nicholson drilled a 3-pointer, Riley Bruggeman stole the Vikings inbounds pass and Weishaar hit another 3-pointer for a quick 6-point spurt for the Ravens.

The Ravens continued to play well in the second half as the defense forced 16 turnovers in the half and 25, total. The Ravens converted those turnovers into 31 points while limiting themselves to 13 turnovers.

Weishaar scored a game-high 20 points and knocked down six 3-pointers, which ties a career high. She also grabbed 9 rebounds and had 5 assists. Jacobs was next with 15 points and 6 boards, and Lauryn Dubbert hit double-digits with 13 points to go along with 5 assists and 4 steals – the Ravens racked up 14 steals in the game. Nicholson and Nicole Storck each scored 8 points. Bruggeman had 7 points and 5 assists as the Ravens finished the game with 21 assists as a team.

The Ravens (8-1, 6-1 Heart) have one more home game before the semester ends as they'll host Mount Mercy University at 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 in Ralph Nolan Gym.
