
(5) Women's Lacrosse opens up Heart play with 25-goal win over UHSP
No. 5 Benedictine Women's Lacrosse opened up Heart of America Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a 25-goal win.
The Ravens earned a 27-2 win over the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis to remain undefeated on the season.
The Ravens held the Eutectics scoreless through halftime. Chanterra Allen scored the Ravens 10th goal of the game with just under two minutes left in the first quarter to kick in the running clock.
By halftime, the Ravens pushed their lead to 18-0, and that lead extended to 20-0 before UHSP scored.
The Eutectics scored back-to-back goals, the first on a free-position shot before the Ravens rattled off 7 unanswered to close out the win.
Allen led the Ravens with 8 goals – which tied the program's single-game record held by Allen and 3 others. Lile Chekas scored 4 goals while Kaylen Moore and Lorelei Siegel scored 3 goals each. Kiera Russell, Alexa Hildenbrand, and Mackenna Hill scored 2 goals each. Margaux Gelbach, Christen Michaelides, and Regan Engle added 1 goal each. Moore led the Ravens with 7 assists, followed by Gelbach with 2 while Chekas added 1.
Moore earned 10 draw controls while Hill finished with 8. Allen led the Ravens with 8 ground balls and 5 caused turnovers. Moore added 3 caused turnovers while Gelbach added 2.
Molly Owen played the first 30 minutes in goal to earn the win. She finished with 1 save before giving way to Monica Klecan in the third quarter and Margaret Rtison in the fourth quarter.
The Ravens hit the road on Monday for a non-conference game with Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., before returning home for a conference game with Midland University at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
