Women's Lacrosse secures another conference win on Senior Day

Taking to the field for the first time as the No. 2-ranked team in the NAIA, Benedictine Women's Lacrosse earned its third win of conference play as they celebrated Senior Day and 10 years of Benedictine Lacrosse.

The Ravens held Missouri Valley College to 7 shots and forced 20 turnovers en route to a 28-3 win on Legacy Field.

Kiera Russell scored the Ravens first goal of the game on an assist from Kaylen Moore 40 seconds into the start of play. Lile Chekas scored the Ravens 10th goal of the game with just under 8 minutes remaining in the quarter to start the running clock.

By the end of the first quarter, Benedictine increased its lead to 12-1, and by halftime that lead sat at 18-2.

Benedictine finished with a 48-7 advantage in shots with 35 shots on goal. Chanterra Allen matched her season high – and program record – with 8 goals on 9 shots on goal. Margaux Gelbach added 6 goals while Moore finished with 5 goals and a team-high 6 assists. Chekas finished with 3 goals, while Russell with 2. Lorelei Siegel, Christen Michaelides, Mackenna Hill, and Emma Rushing finished with 1 goal each to round out the Ravens scoring efforts. Allen finished with 3 assists, followed by Russell and Chekas with 2 each. Hill added 1 assist to her 1 goal as the Ravens finished with 14 total assists.

Defensively, the Ravens recorded 13 caused turnovers out of the 20 committed by Missouri Valley. Allen led the way with 3, followed by Sloan Poindexter and Moore with 2. Russell, Michaelides, Ava Moore, Molly Owen, Rushing, and Chekas finished with 1 each.

Owen earned the win, playing the first half in goal before she gave way to Monican Klecan and Margaret Ritson in the second half. Owen finished with 2 saves while giving up 2 goals. 

Hill led the Ravens with 7 draw controls, followed by Moore with 6. Russell and Gelbach added 5 each. 

The Ravens play their next two conference games on the road, traveling to Ottawa University on Wednesday and (8) Missouri Baptist University on Saturday before returning home on March 31 to take on Culver-Stockton College.
