BALDWIN CITY – Benedictine Men's Soccer knocked off long-time rival (RV) Baker University on Wednesday night.
Diego Acuna scored what proved to be the game-winner during the 55th minute as the Ravens earned a 3-2 win over the Wildcats.
The two teams exchanged goals during the first 41 minutes of the match. Baker struck first during the 11th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Benedictine answered during the 41st minute on a goal from Carson Wilcox on an assist from Kajubi Kalanzi.
Benedictine took their first lead of the match during the 51st minute on an unassisted goal scored by Adem Aroura. The Wildcats answered during the 52nd minute setting up the goal from Acuna.
The two teams combined for just 18 shots with Benedictine holding a slight advantage in shots on goal, 7-5.
Aroua led the Ravens with 5 shots while Acuna added 4.
Noah Reuscher earned the win in goal. He finished with 3 saves over 90 minutes with all 3 coming in the first half as Benedictine held Baker without a shot on goal over the final 45 minutes of the match.
Benedictine returns home at 4:30 p.m. Saturday to take on No. 14 William Penn University.
