CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – No. 24 Benedictine Men's Soccer remained unbeaten in Heart play on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Mount Mercy University.
Benedictine secured their second shutout of the week with a 31st-minute goal as they ran their winning streak to six straight.
Manuel Abello broke a scoreless draw during the 31st minute, scoring on an assist from Diego Acuna.
Mount Mercy held a 4-shot advantage in the second half as they finished with a 9-6 advantage over the 90-minute match.
Noah Reuscher earned the win in goal for the Ravens, securing his second shutout of the week while recording 3 saves in the second half against the Mustangs. Mount Mercy's final shot on goal came during the 73rd minute as the Ravens held the Mustangs without a shot over the final 17 minutes of the match.
Benedictine has now allowed just two goals over their winning streak – which started on Sept. 2. The Ravens will close out the month with a pair of home matches, the first of which is Wednesday as they host No. 5 Bellevue University at 7:30 p.m. on Legacy Field.
The next NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll is scheduled for release on Wednesday.
