Women's Soccer gutted out an overtime win at home on Saturday night.
The (23) Ravens defeated the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats 1-0 in the 8th minute of overtime.
Megan Homoly stepped up to take a free-kick about 35 yards from a goal late in the first overtime period. Homoly's long kick looped over all the Wildcats and Ravens in the box, including CSC keeper Trinity Register as it stayed just outside of her reach and landed in the goal for the game-winning goal.
The OT winner put a cap on a tough, hard-fought game between the teams.
The first half was a defensive struggle as the Ravens and Wildcats entered halftime scoreless. Each team had stretches of time when it controlled possession, but neither team was able to find a goal.
The Ravens had 5 shots, with 2 shots on goal. CSC managed 4 shots, but none were put on frame.
The closest chance came on a Ravens corner kick as Annabelle Hoog had a quick chance in the box, but her looping shot stayed just high, passing over the crossbar.
Through the next 45 minutes, the Ravens and Wildcats remained scoreless. Rachel Beffa nearly had a game-winner with just a couple minutes to play in regulation, but Register made a lunging, one-handed save on Beffa's close-range shot.
Register had 7 saves through the first 90 minutes and Olivia Berry had 2 saves in the game to earn her fourth clean sheet of the season.
The Ravens (6-1, 2-0 Heart) will cap off their three-game homestand when they play at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 against (17) Missouri Valley College.
