(RV) Women's Soccer remains unbeaten in Heart play

Women's Soccer remained unbeaten, and unscored on, in Heart of America action on Saturday.

The (RV) Ravens defeated the William Penn University Statesmen 3-0 at home.

The opening goal came within the first 5 minutes of the game. Rebecca Slaten sent a pass forward to Riley Degner who was able to dribble into the box and send a left-footed shot past the Penn keeper to put the Ravens up 1-0.

With 27 minutes to play before half, Rachel Beffa had a good look at the goal after a nice pass forward from Annabelle Hoog, but the shot was saved by the keeper to keep the Ravens lead at 1-0. That was a theme through the rest of the half as the Ravens were able to create more scoring opportunities, but were unable to find another goal.

The Ravens notched their second goal of the game in the 53rd minute. Faith Lewis had a shot deflect off the crossbar but Christine Znidarsic was there to collect the rebound and shoot into the corner of the net for the goal.

The Ravens added a third goal with 10 minutes to play. This one came from Payton Vogelbacher, who scored off an assist from Kourtney Koc to close out the scoring in the match.

Mackenzie Korzenecki went 75 minutes in goal for the Ravens and Madison Smith played the final 15 minutes, but neither keeper had to make a save. The Ravens outshot WPU 23-2 and neither of the Statesmen shots were on goal.

With the clean sheet, the Ravens continue their streak of not allowing a goal in Heart of America play and haven't allowed a goal since their 10-2 win against Avila on Sept. 6 – a span of 650 minutes.

The Ravens (9-1-3, 4-0-2 Heart) will try to continue that streak when they host No. 25 MidAmerica Nazarene at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 back on Legacy Field.
