No. 24-ranked Benedictine Women's Soccer adjusted quickly to play a road game on their home turf on Legacy Field on Wednesday against Park University.
As a result of rains in the Kansas City region overnight into Wednesday and the threat of continued heavy rains throughout the day and night on Wednesday, the decision was made to move the match from Park's campus to Benedictine in order to be able to play the match. Benedictine scored 3 goals inside the first 17 minutes of the match en route to a 6-0 win over the Pirates.
The Ravens first two goals were unassisted by Christine Znidarsic during the the 10th minute and then Emily Shepherd during the 11th minute. Riley Degner scored off an assist from Sam Mausbach during the 16th minute to give Benedictine the early 3-0 advantage. Rachel Beffa scored off an assist from Hannah Phillips during the 33rd minute and that's where the Ravens lead remained through halftime.
Phillips pushed the advantage to 5-0 during the 71st minute and then Brook Hatzmann capped off the scoring for the Ravens during the 87th minute.
Mackenzie Korzenecki recorded 2 saves in 72 minutes in goal while Madison Smith finished off the match in goal for the Ravens.
The Ravens finished the match with a 20-13 advantage in shots with 12 shots on goal.
The win moves the Ravens conference record to 6-1-3 with one match remaining in the regular season. Benedictine hosts No. 20 Missouri Valley College at 2 p.m. Saturday to lock in their seeding for the upcoming 2023 Heart Postseason Tournament that opens play on Nov. 4.
