(18) Women's Soccer cruises past WBU Eagles

Women's Soccer put together a dominant effort Friday afternoon.

The (18) Ravens defeated the Williams Baptist Eagles, 7-0, controlling possession from start to finish.

The Ravens played from the front foot starting from the opening whistle, but didn't have anything to show for it in the first half hour. That quickly changed late in the half.

Hannah Philips opened the scoring on an assist from Grace Heeb in the 32nd minute. Just a few moments later, the Ravens rattled off three scores in 2 minutes.

Caysi Brown scored on a corner kick with a double-assist from Jenna Wilken and Elizabeth Mahfood. A minute later, Madison Casey used a Wilken assist to put the Ravens up 3-0, and then another minute later Brook Hatzmann netted the fourth Raven goal of the half, with Casey getting the assist.

The offensive attack continued in the second half for the Ravens. Christine Znidarsic scored just over 4 minutes into the second half, with Rebecca Slaten on the assist. The lead was pushed to 6-0 in the 67th minute when Audrey Bolan scored on an assist from Anna Gremaud.

The final goal came in the 71st minute as Hatzmann netted her second goal, this one on an assist by Carolina Schultz.

In total, the Ravens out-shot the Eagles 36-0 and 19-0 in shots on goals. Mackenzie Korzenecki went all 90 minutes in goal for the Ravens, never facing a shot attempt.

The win is the first in the head coaching career of Hunter Nail. The Ravens are 1-1 and will return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at home against St. Ambrose.
