OTTAWA – Benedictine Volleyball closed out the week with two wins on Saturday at the Ottawa Invitational.
The (RV) Ravens earned a 3-0 win over Hannibal-LaGrange and then closed out the trip with a 3-2 win over (RV) Ottawa.
In the win over Hannibal-LaGrange, the Ravens hit .272 with 38 kills. Winny Harris led the team with 11, followed by Regan Bruggeman with 8. Marissa Mantz and Haley Cahill anchored the offensive attack with 16 and 14 assists respectively.
Defensively, Evelyn Arreola led the backline with 16 digs, followed by Hokulani Sagapolu with 12. Harris added 2 block assists and one solo block to round out the defensive effort.
Against Ottawa, the Ravens finished at .213 on the attack with a total of 72 kills. Three Ravens reached double figures in kills, led by Sagapolu with 19. Mahala Sewell added 16, followed by Harris with 14 and Bruggeman with 11. Cahill finished with 30 assists while Mantz added 28.
Arreola finished with 32 digs, 2 off her season high, while Sagapolu earned a double-double with 16 digs. Cahill finished with 14 while Cate Milroy added 13. Maura Lickteig finished with 4 block assists and 1 solo block while Bruggeman and Harris added 4 and 3 block assists respectively.
Benedictine is off until Friday when they host their Heart opener at 7 p.m. against Grand View University. The match with the Vikings is the first of four straight inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium to close out the month of September.
